Admission criteria
The Vatican Library is for
specialized research in the fields of philology and
history, and, retrospectively, in theology, law and
science. It is designed for scientific research, with
special emphasis on the study of manuscripts.
The Admissions Office is open from Monday through Friday
from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon; and also on Monday and
Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It is open to qualified researchers and scholars who can
provide documentation of their qualifications and their
need to access the materials conserved in the Library.
By accepting the Reader’s Pass and signing the form in
the Secretariat, the Reader undertakes to obey the
Rules for Readers of the
Library.
